Grammostola pulchra, Brazilian Black Tarantula

Grammostola pulchra, known as the Brazilian Black Tarantula, is prized for its long life, reputation as a docile tarantula, a reduced tendency to kick urticating hairs, and the deep black color of adult specimen.

New Mexico Species Importation Rule

We did it!!  We have been heard!!
It is very likely, that tarantulas will be removed from the Director's Species Importation List entirely.

I have been informed that tarantulas were not meant to be on the list; and that the NMDGF does not have jurisdiction over "insects". Letitia Mee said she was "99% sure we are going to remove tarantulas from the Species Importation List"; should they decide to keep them on the list she said they would list them under Family, Theraphosidae, instead of under Genus or Species.

You no longer need to send in copies of the Species List, Genus List, or Letter of Request that were compiled for this matter. Everyone is still encouraged to contact her with your personal comments on the issue. Let their office know you all have individual voices, and a vested interest in this matter. Remember, the deadline to comment is June 4th.

A grand "Thank You" is in order for everyone involved. Thanks to all your efforts and responses our voices have been heard, and the tarantula hobby in NM is safe; not to mention still legal.
